Safety Concerns & Road Closures

Overnight closures scheduled for Monday, March 23*:

·         Ramp from I-65 North/I-65 South to I-64 East

·         Ramp from I-64 East to I-71 North

Overnight closures scheduled Monday, March 23-Saturday, March 28*:

·         Ramp from I-64 East to I-65 North

·         One lane of I-64 East from 3rd Street to Story Avenue

Work scheduled for Thursday, March 26:

·         Project-wide rolling closures 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for pothole patching

**Overnight closures are scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. Signed detours are in place during full closures.

Continuing Closures and Restrictions:

·         River Road from Preston Street to Witherspoon Street is scheduled for intermittent overnight closures for the next several weeks. The overnight closures will depend on the work being done and will not be continuous.

Louisville Streets:

A wave of continuous work along the I-65 corridor will lead to intermittent closures on several downtown Louisville streets through the end of the project in late 2016. During this time, closures are not continuous and will be shifting as work dictates. Signed detours will be in place during full closures.

The following streets are impacted:

·         Floyd Street from Muhammad Ali Boulevard to Liberty Street

·         Hancock Street from Main Street to Clay Street

·         Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street

·         Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Floyd Street

·         Liberty Street from Floyd Street to Preston Street

·         Main Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street

·         Market Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street

·         Preston Street from Jefferson Street to Liberty Street

·         River Road from Preston Street to Witherspoon Street (2 lanes)

·         Witherspoon Street from Slugger Field to Clay Street and from Adams Street to River Road

Additional intermittent closures:

·         Frankfort Avenue from Story Avenue to River Road, with local access available between Story Avenue and Washington Street

·         Mellwood Avenue under I-64

·         Story Avenue under I-64


Kentucky Side:

·         Ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed through the spring of 2016

·         Ramp from I-65 North to I-64 West is closed through mid-June

·         Ramp from Liberty Street to I-65 North is closed

·         I-65 North from Muhammad Ali Boulevard to Witherspoon Street reduced to two through lanes of traffic, with the right lane a mandatory exit to Muhammad Ali Boulevard into 2015

·         Right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed through 2016

Permanent closures:

·         Broadway Street from Court Avenue to 6th Street

·         6th Street ramp to I-65 North

·         7th Street from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street

·         VFW Boulevard from 7th Street to 9th Street         

Specials and Savings along The Avenue:

Trolley Specials on Friday, March 27th:

The Avenue will host a night of appreciation for active and veteran service members and their families Friday, March 27th. This event will be for all service men, women, and veterans from all branches of the US armed forces. Event will feature food and beverage specials, shopping discounts, and
entertainment with free parking. Trolleys are free and open to the public from 6PM-10:30PM

  • The Wine Rack, 2632 Frankfort Avenue, 10% off wine, 10% off food and 5% off beer with military ID. There will also be sampling of local wine and cheeses from Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese from 6-8 p.m.
  • A Reader's Corner Bookstore, 2044 Frankfort Avenue, will offer 20% off and serve light refreshments.
  • Bourbon Barrel Foods, 2710 Frankfort Avenue, will offer 10% off all purchases to military shoppers and sample America’s only micro-brewed soy sauce. Other products and recipes will also be available for sample.
  • Lexie’s Trading Post, 2224 Frankfort Avenue, this veteran-owned business will honor all military and veterans with a 15% discount on purchases. Civil Air Patrol (CAP) will be offering para-cord bracelets and key chains, $5 each or buy 4 get one free.
  • The Urban Farmhouse Market, 2830 Frankfort Avenue, will be hosting The Urban Farmhouse MarketSpring Fling on Friday and Saturday. Shoppers will receive 20% off the entire purchase.
  • Copper and Kings, 1111 E Washington Street, will be hosting an opening for Courier Journal archival photography. The photographs will be framed and available for sale throughout the month of April.
  • Consider Boutique, 107 S Bayly Avenue, will be hosting a gallery titled “Birds, Bikes, and Buildings” by Vickie Wheatley. The artist uses quilting to create images of birds, bikes, buildings and other abstract images.
  • Just Creations, 2722 Frankfort Avenue, will be hosting a four-day rug event from March 25 – March 28 with over 300 oriental rugs that are hand made in Pakistan.
  • Surroundings, 2033 Frankfort Avenue, will have a 20% discount on Polish pottery and will be offering an additional 10% off to military members and veterans. This does not include art, which will be available through a silent auction.
  • Heine Brothers' Coffee, 2714 Frankfort Avenue, 10% off to all veterans and active military memberswith a military ID.
  • Varanese Restaurant, 2106 Frankfort Ave, 10% off with a military/veteran ID.
  • Crescent Hill Craft House, 2636 Frankfort Ave, 25% off food orders with military/veteran ID.
  • Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot, 3204 Frankfort Ave, 20% off with military ID.
  • Irish Rover, 2319 Frankfort Ave, Free dessert with any entrée purchase for all military and veterans.
  • Ramiro’s Cantina, 2350 Frankfort Ave, $3 22oz Miller Lite and Bud Light drafts with military/veteran ID.
  • Crave Café, 2250 Frankfort Ave, 15% off entire purchase with military/veteran ID.
  • Clifton’s Pizza, 2230 Frankfort Ave, $5 off large pizzas with military/veteran ID.
